Rep. Rogers Praises Thorough Stephens County Recount

GRAFORD, TX – Following the completion of the official recount of the May 24 Primary Runoff Election in Stephens County, the vote tabulators, election officials, and representatives from both campaigns watched as the county certified the count of votes at the same margin as was reported on election night.

Following Representative Rogers’ victory on the May 24th Primary Runoff, challenger Mike Olcott petitioned to have votes recounted in all three counties. As paper ballots for Stephens County were certified Wednesday, Dr. Rogers once again handily trounced Mike Olcott, 731 to 284─ a difference of 447 votes.

“This is not only a victory for all of the people who worked hard to get me re-elected, but a victory for election integrity in the State of Texas,” Rogers said. “Everyone who voted, got to have their vote counted and re-counted without a single ballot up for debate.”

While a challenger lead recount is traditionally fruitless, a legal ballot may be discounted for a variety of procedural errors out of the voter’s control during the first certification, causing slight changes in the margin of victory. For a county to report a 100% match from runoff to a recount is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work of the Stephens County election’s team.

“Despite erroneous claims, the hardworking people of House District 60 can have complete faith in the validity of their ballot,” Rogers continued. “I support any effort to increase faith in our elections process, and this recount has, so far, proven my confidence in our elections team to be well placed.”

The official tallying of voters for Parker County will take place as regularly scheduled Thursday, June 9, while the Palo Pinto certification will be moved from Friday, June 10 to Tuesday, June 21 as a result of challenger objection.

Dr. Rogers is a veterinarian and owns and operates Holt River Ranch in Palo Pinto County. He resides in Graford with his wife, Mandy. They have three daughters, Meg, Ginny, and Leah; one son, Ben, and five grandchildren. Glenn and Mandy are longtime members of the Methodist Church.

Representative Rogers won re-election as State Representative for House District 60 on May 24, 2022, now comprised of Stephens, Palo Pinto, and Parker Counties.
