Friday afternoon on I-20 an Edinburg man lost his life in a car crash after fleeing from a Cisco police officer, unlawfully evading arrest or detention.

DPS Sergeant Marc Couch reports that on February 3rd, Jawuan Nalick Mullins, a 29-year-old male, of Edinburg, Texas, attempted to flee from Cisco police in a 2019 Kia Sorento headed east on I-20. One mile west of Eastland Mullins drove into the center median of I-20 and over corrected attempting to steer back toward the roadway. Mullins then traveled across the eastbound lanes, across the median between I-20 and the access road, and across the access road into the barrow ditch where the vehicle overturned striking a fence and light pole. The accident occurred at 4:21 p.m. Mullins was pronounced dead at 5:16 p.m.

A passenger, Seth Savage Slayton, a 29-year-old male of Plano, Texas had non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital.
