Jon Patric “Hotshot” Johnson

GORDON – Jon Patric “Hotshot” Johnson, 69 of Gordon, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at home on his beloved ranch. Jon was born April 4, 1952 in Fort Worth to Durward S. Johnson and Marjorie (Ringo) Johnson. He graduated from Gordon High School, class of 1970 and received his associates degree from Tarleton State College in 1972.  He married Marjorie Lee Spargo on August 26, 1972 in Albuquerque, NM.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Margie Johnson; a daughter, Shaye Johnson Trigg (husband Brett) and grandsons Ross and Rylan; a son, Jon Lesley Johnson (wife Terri) and grandson Henry Ringo; a brother, David Johnson; 2 sisters, Linda Snow, and Debra Wheeler.

Jon served the past 15 years on the Soil & Water Conservation board promoting and protecting his love of farming and ranching.

After retiring from 30 years with Mitchell Energy he was able to focus full time on the family ranch, a true labor of love, where he and Margie built their final home together. At day’s end, friends and family knew they could be found by the fire pit for a visit, feeding the fish or driving the property in their Polaris.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11th at the Gordon High School gym with Roger Keck officiating and under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn. A luncheon will be provided for the family at the Gordon Community Center at 12PM, and friends and family are welcome back there after the service to visit.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice or through the Palo Pinto Cowboy Church:
