Russ Thomason is well known and respected in Eastland County. He retired in September 2021, after having been elected to five consecutive four-year terms as the Criminal District Attorney – 91st Judicial District for Eastland County, Texas.
Upon his retirement, Thomason was presented with the Texas Department of Public Safety Dedicated Service Award by DPS Captain Doug Farber who remarked that it was the first time that he could remember this award being given to a person outside of TDPS employment. Thomason received the Texas Department of Public Safety Regional Commander’s Award in 2011, recognizing outstanding prosecutorial leadership that assisted the Department in making the State of Texas a safer place for law abiding citizens by targeting organized criminal enterprises with multi-defendant investigations.
Thomason retired as a founding member of the Eastland County Crime Victims Assistance Center and Child Advocacy center in 2021 and has in the past served as a board member and President of the Eastland Chamber of Commerce President and Eastland Economic Development Board. He currently serves as a Regional Director for First Financial Bank – Eastland Region.
Thomason and his wife, Regina attend church at Lake Leon Baptist and currently reside on their ranch in Callahan County, Texas.
