BROWNWOOD – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to begin work next week
to upgrade drainage structures on FM 679 (Crescent Street) as part of the SH 6 Reconstruction
project. As work progresses, various lane closures will occur. Information on construction and
anticipated traffic impacts will be shared as work is scheduled. All drainage work in this area is
expected to be complete in spring 2025.

Beginning approximately 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, a portion of FM 679 will be closed to
through traffic at the intersection of FM 8. Access will be maintained for residents and their visitors.
This closure will be in place for approximately one week, weather and work progress permitting. A
detour will be in place during this work, see diagram below. Please follow all directional signage
and watch for crews and equipment in the work zone. Traffic delays could occur, and motorists are
advised to plan accordingly and take an alternate route.
