On April 20, surveyors arrived at Eastland Memorial Hospital for an unannounced Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) re-certification survey. The on-site survey is required by CMS and occurs every three years to determine a facility’s compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation. CMS compliance is critically important to the viability and survival of rural healthcare organizations. EMH passed the unannounced survey with “zero” deficiencies cited, which is an extremely favorable outcome for our hospital and community.
