Donald Lane

Don Lane passed away on September 2, 2023, in the Brownwood, Texas hospital at the age of 79. Don was born October 22, 1943, in Pioneer, Texas to James and Marie (Jones) Lane. He was raised and attended school in Cross Plains, Texas. On September 19, 1965, he married the love of his life, Brenda Pierce. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on September 19, 2023. Don was drafted into the Army in May of 1965, and spent 18 months in Germany. When he returned home, he attended Cisco Jr. College and graduated in 1969. He then went to work for Comanche Co. Electric and retired in 1988. Don enjoyed farming and ranching with Brenda on their farm. They build all the barns on their farm, and in 1988 completed building their log home. Don was always bringing stray dogs? home and told everyone Brenda was the one who had done it. Don is survived by his wife Brenda; nephews, Rex and his wife Leign Ann Pierce, and Clay and Amy Warren; nieces, Kelly Pierce, and Brandie and her husband Russell Chapman; Brother, Tommy Lane; and sisters, Glenda Farina and Jimmy Neal Montgomery; numerous Great nieces and nephews; great-great niece and nephews; and best friends and neighbors, Paul, Ginger, Carter, Casey, and Claire Holton. Don was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Lane; brothers, Paul Lane and Fred Lane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arless and Bonnie Pierce; bother-in-law, Clinton Pierce; and sister-in-law, Glenna Warren. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to Rescue the Animals, 4620 North 1St St., Abilene, Texas. “Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.”
