Hi! My name is Cecil Funderburgh, and I have filed an application for re-election to the Eastland City Commission.
Many of you already know me. For 21 years, I served as Chief of Police for the City of Eastland, and after retiring, went to work as Executive Director of Eastland Chamber of Commerce for about 5 ½ years.
I was very happily married for over 15 years to my beautiful wife, Patty (Pryor), and we have six grown children. Patty passed from this earth on January 12, 2021 and is rejoicing with our Lord.
Most of my life has been devoted to public service, having served in the United States Air Force, and as Chief of Police for the City of Gorman before accepting the Chief’s position in Eastland in 1990. While in Gorman, I also served as City Coordinator, being responsible for efficient operation of all city functions and departments. After moving to Eastland, I served as Emergency Management Coordinator, Assistant City Manager, and Interim City Manager for the City of Eastland, in addition to my law enforcement duties. I am currently serving a two-year term on the Eastland City Commission.
During my years of public service, I built a reputation for integrity, fairness, and common sense, and still subscribe to that as my personal code of honor. For over 37 years, I managed public entity budgets, and always sought to keep spending below the budgeted amounts. It is extremely important to be frugal with taxpayer dollars, and I will always be mindful of that, while providing the services that the citizens of Eastland need and deserve.
On Saturday, May 6th, Eastland voters will cast their votes for Eastland City Commissioners. I encourage you to participate in the election and earnestly ask for your vote. If re-elected, I will continue to serve our community with integrity, experience, fairness, and common sense.
Thank you!
