Former Eastland County Justice of the Peace, Precinct #1 Jack Edward Graham, 79, of Eastland, passed away Tuesday, June 09, 2009 in Eastland after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s and diabetes. Services will be at 10 A.M. Friday in the First United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland on Thursday from 6 until 8 P.M.
Jack was born February 20, 1930 in Eastland to Lois (Fox) and Glen Graham. He graduated from Eastland schools and was a life-long resident of Eastland. At the age of 18 he began a 45 year career with Victor Cornelius Inc. In 1950 he married Gail Harr. They raised their four daughters in Eastland. In 1952 he became a member of the Eastland Fire Department, which encompassed a 50 year membership, serving 35 years of those years as Fire Chief and Fire Marshal. In 1986 he married Frances Revels from Ranger and in 1992 he became Justice of the Peace for Precinct #1, serving 14 years, until January 2007. Throughout his life Jack dedicated himself to his family and community. From donating his time to help build Eastland Memorial Hospital, to chaperoning dances on weekends so the teenagers would have a safe place to go. He loved fishing, hunting and bowling, even bowling a perfect score of 300 during a tournament.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; his daughters, Connie Underwood, Jackie Maynard and husband Tommy, and Susan Graham all of Eastland; 3 grandchildren, Tracy Maynard and Brent Bishop, Jason Maynard and wife Kim, and Toby Maynard and Amy Schonieg, all of Eastland; 6 great-grandchildren, Codin, Maddie, Rianna, Dylan, Emmerson and Zoey Maynard; 1 sister, Georgia Harr of Eastland; two nephews; one niece; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Linda Fay Graham. Jack was a life time Baptist, being baptized at the age of 11 in the south fork of the Brazos River.
