Eastland Man Charged with Arson

The Eastland County Sheriff’s Department released the following information concerning the July 18th fires:

On July 21, 2020 the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Dobbs, age 39, of Eastland, Texas for arson.

At approximately 8:28 p.m. on July 18, 2020, Eastland County 911 Dispatch received a call regarding a grass fire on CR 436. Local fire departments were dispatched to the scene. At approximately 8:34 p.m. on July 18, 2020, Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a man jumping over a fence and running behind Walmart away from a portion of the grass fire. That subject was identified as Jason Dobbs.

The fire spread across 100 acres before being fully extinguished. The cause of the fire was investigated by Eastland County Sheriff’s Office Investigator, Kent Howell and the Texas Forest Service Law Enforcement Department and was determined to be arson. Subsequent investigation revealed probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Jason Dobbs and charge him with arson.

Dobbs is currently being held at the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office on a $150,000 bond.
