Eastland County Declared Sanctuary County For All Businesses

After hearing from quite a few local citizens in support of opening Eastland County businesses up to 100%, a resolution “Declaring Eastland County Sanctuary County For All Businesses” was unanimously adopted today during a special session of the Eastland County Commissioner’s Court.

The last part of the resolution states that Eastland County declares all businesses as essential and “supports opening all businesses without restrictions or limitations that would allow all businesses to fight for their very economic survival and livelihood.”

Although the commissioners indicated that the county will not be enforcing Governor Abbott’s orders, those orders are still in place. Businesses that have recently re-opened still fall into the 25% or 50% occupancy limits under Governor Abbott’s orders and Texas state agencies do still have the authority to enforce the orders.
