Eastland County COVID-19 Update, September 13, 2020

As of September 13, the COVID cases are as follows:

  1. Number of positive COVID cases in Eastland County since March: 193
  2. Number positive cases still in quarantine: 18
  3. Number of deaths: 1

These numbers are from several sources including the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reports that I receive, as well as from confirmed cases from local clinics and Eastland Memorial Hospital. The large drop in positive cases that are in quarantine is due to the one day surge of 36 cases that now are no longer in quarantine.

I want to thank the administration of our local school districts as well as our Junior Colleges who have been working very closely with the health care workers in our county to slow the spread of the COVID virus. Immediate response to rises in cases of students has helped reduce new outbreaks. I want to thank the employees at the new Eastland Memorial Hospital Rural Health Clinic in Ranger for their assistance and prompt response to the recent surge.

Please continue to do your part in keeping our students in school.
