Judge Rex Fields administers the oath of office to Jay Druesedow, Constable Precinct 2

During a special called meeting of the Eastland County Commissioner’s Court Thursday, November 7th, Jay Druesedow was appointed and sworn in as the Eastland County Constable for Precinct 2.

Before putting the appointment recommendation to a vote, Judge Rex Fields read through Druesedow’s resume. He graduated from Haskell High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech, was with DPS for 26 years and retired as a Lieutenant and lives at Lake Leon. He has his Master Peace Officer Certificate and comes with excellent references.

When asked if he had anything he wanted to say, Druesedow said, “I’m just asking for the opportunity to serve the county in that role.”

Also during the meeting, County District Attorney, Russ Thomason brought a request for office space in the basement of the courthouse to house Texas Ranger Shane Morrow. Thomason explained that there has always been a Texas Ranger based in Eastland County and historically the Eastland Courthouse was the location for that office. When the DPS office was built, office space for a Texas Ranger was included. Eastland County now has the opportunity to have another Texas Ranger. Thomason explained that the final decision by DPS to add another Texas Ranger had not been made yet, but a prerequisite to that decision was to already have office space. Commissioners voted to approve the request.

Editors note: Originally this article incorrectly identified Jay Druesedow as appointed Commissioner of Precinct 2. His appointment was for Constable of Precinct 2.  My apologies to Constable Druesedow and for any confusion I may have caused.
