Donald Mendel Vernon was born October 19, 1950 in Houston, TX to Mendel Dean and Audrey Almond Vernon and was a graduate of North Richland Hill High School. Don was a collector, collecting Coca-Cola, John Wayne and baseball memorabilia along with many baseball cards. It had been a dream of his to open a collector’s store in Eastland when he retired. Because of his love for all things baseball, he spent the last 25 years as the scorekeeper for the Lady Mavs Softball Team and these amazing young ladies will serve as his pallbearers. Don was also an active member of the Daugherty St. Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children; Chris Vernon and wife Krystal, and Diana Vernon and their mother Cheri Emert, 4 grandchildren; Ryan Vernon, Megan Brook Stevens and husband Thomas, Tonie Yanez and Nathan Yanez, 4 great-grandchildren; Addison, Hadley, Audree and Behr, and 2 bonus grandchildren; Grayson and Abbye Forbus.
