Eastland County has received 19 new positive confirmed cases of COVID-19. These cases are in Eastland and Cisco nursing facilities. These tests were done by the national guard directed by state guidelines mandating nursing facilities to be tested within a 2-week period. All individuals are doing well with no severe respiratory problems. We are still awaiting the results from testing at the Ranger and Rising Star Nursing homes.

If you have been in contact with an employee of any nursing facility, please contact your health care provider to see if you need to be tested. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, please self-quarantine and seek testing as soon as possible.

Continue to practice social distancing, wear masks when appropriate per CDC guidelines and wash your hands frequently.

I would like to know, since this mass testing of nursing home residents just started, are they sick, or just testing positive? If they are sick, shouldn’t they have already been tested? And,.since we’ve heard that having a flu shot can make you test positive, how many of those residents have had a flu shot?
