All COVID testing results that we have received this past week have been negative. We still hold at five cases. President Trump and Governor Abbott have requested that all nursing home employees and residents be tested for COVID-19. That testing will begin in Eastland County by the National Guard.

Science Notes: With a vaccine still out on the horizon, many scientists are working on multiple medications for the treatment of the virus. Many rely on the technology and knowledge from previous antiviral treatments including HIV and Hepatitis C, as well as the anti-rheumatic medications.

Anti-viral: Generally, these inhibit the ability of the virus to replicate, either by preventing attachment to the cell, or by inhibiting the ability to replicat its RNA once it is in the cell. Remdesivir, lopinavir, and ribavirin are a few that are in aggressive studies. Some are being used in combination and others are being given as a single drug. Many show very promising results.

Will discuss other drug therapy areas this week.
