Dessie Mae Cagle was born on November 23, 1933 in Sipe Springs, Texas. She spent her life raising her two daughters Cathy Emfinger and Pat Byrd in Olden. She is survived by her loving daughters and their husbands, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and her “little brother” Ben Cagle. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and sisters and 1 grandson.
Growing up Dessie was very athletic playing basketball and softball but her primary sport was volleyball. As a working Mom she spent countless hours with her daughters and their school working the concession stands and supporting the PTA. Her strongest passion throughout her life was her church. She never missed an opportunity to jump in and help whether in the kitchen or in the rodeo arena. Her generosity to those around her is her living legacy. In the last few years she began to volunteer at the Eastland Hospital Sunshine Shop and enjoyed all of her friends.
She was never afraid to speak her mind or introduce herself to everyone in a room. She endured heartache and great joy with grace. Her laughter and her smile were an undeniable life force. As a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend she will be greatly missed.
