Friday night, December 15, 2 people lost their lives in a fire that destroyed the family’s home. Kenny Osteen died while trying to rescue his step-daughter, 4 year old Karleigh. Both were found deceased inside the home after the fire was contained. The mother and her two-year-old child had made it safely outside. Seven-year-old, Emily, who had already been rescued by Kenny, was airlifted to Dallas and will require skin graphs. The family lost everything in the fire and had no insurance.
Update (Monday, Dec 18): This morning, Emily faced skin graph surgery and according to a message from her mother, Kaylea Carroll, “the doctor said she did amazing”. She is expected to be out of ICU tomorrow and hopefully home by next week.
