Two Die in Eastland House Fire


The Eastland Police Department reports that at approximately 11:44 pm on Friday, December 15th the Eastland Fire Department was paged out to the report of a structure fire in the 200 block of North Daugherty St. The fire department arrived on scene at approximately 11:47 and found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, Eastland Fire Department requested mutual aid from Cisco and Olden Fire Departments and both departments responded to assist in battling the blaze. It was determined three juveniles and two adults were living at the residence. One juvenile and one adult were treated at the scene and released. One juvenile was taken by AirEvac to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for treatment for burns. The State Fire Marshalls office was called to the scene and conducted an investigation assisted by members of the Eastland Fire Department and Eastland Police Department. Once the structure was cooled enough to enter, State Fire Marshalls made entry and discovered one adult and one juvenile deceased inside the structure. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace D.J. Walker and both were transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
