Arrested were: Debra Rowe Haynie W/F age 63 and Noah Berry Roberson W/M age 64.  These two arrests were the result of an investigation by Eastland County Sheriff’s Office and Eastland County Constable.

An Eastland County Constable first became aware of the situation while serving civil papers at the small ranch near Desdemona.  He contacted the Sheriff’s Office for assistance and a Warrant was obtained from Justice of the Peace Jesse Speers to seize the horses.  Rescue the Animals from Abilene and North Texas Humane Society of Joshua were also involved in the transportation and evaluation of the horses on May 30, 2018.  A total of 31 horses were seized.

A hearing was held in JP court on Friday June 8, 2018 to determine the fate of the horses.  Justice of the Peace Jesse Speers ruled that the horses were not to be returned to Haynie and Roberson.  The horses are being kept by North Texas Humane Society under a veterinarians care and after rehabilitation they will be available for adoption.

Both Haynie and Roberson were charged with 5 counts of Cruelty to Animals and bond was set at $2,000.00 per charge.
