Troy Walton Gosnell, 87, of Cisco, passed away September 6, 2011, in Eastland. Services were Thursday at 1:00 PM officiated by Dr. Kelvin J Kelley in the Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Troy was born April 10, 1924, in Nocona, Texas, to Jesse Washington and Manie Leona (Cantrell) Gosnell. After attending school at Quail, Texas, he served in the US Army during WW II. After leaving the military, he moved to Cisco where he attended Cisco Junior College. He had worked for several Manufacturing Companies in Cisco.
Troy and Frances Lucille Cook were married April 23, 1955, in Baird, Texas. They celebrated their 56th anniversary in April. Troy loved music. He was a talented musician and, at one time, had his own band. The guitar was his favorite instrument. He loved spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Baptist.
Survivors are his wife, Frances, of Cisco; sons, Tim and wife, Sue, of Cisco and Troy Lynn and wife, Patricia, of Farmersville; daughters, Debra Blankenship, and husband, Max, of Cisco, Connie Hinds and husband, Wrey, of Round Rock; brother, Terry Gosnell; grandchildren, Tim Gosnell, Jr., Steven McLean, Becky Alvey, Molly Blankenship, Mason Hinds, Chandler Hinds; great-grandchildren, Dylan McLean, Tyler Alvey and Cynthia Alvey.
Troy was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelba Gosnell, sister, Gladys, brothers, Lloyd, Andrew and Vernon.
