A Native Texan, Troy was born in San Angelo, where he remained throughout his school years, graduating from Wall High School in 1985. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. During his time in the Navy, he became a welding instructor, achieved the rank of Chief, and retired with over 20 years of honorable service. While in the Navy he was frequently deployed overseas for construction operations, including the Middle East, where he provided training environments for Special Forces. While stationed in Mississippi Troy met and married the love of his life, Patricia, with whom he recently celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary.
After his retirement, Troy and Patricia moved to Ranger, and established Dancing Moon Farmstead. For a time, they both became actively involved in the Ranger Citizens Task Force, the Ranger Chamber of Commerce, and the Ranger Historical Preservation Society. Many of the core values Troy learned while in the Navy carried through to his civilian life. He used these values and strong work ethics while serving our community in various roles, including City Secretary, City Commissioner, and eventually his service culminated with his having been elected City of Ranger Mayor 2013-2015. Since leaving the city, Troy has spent his time taking care of extended family while continuing to work on the farm and pursuing his interests in woodwork and living history.
Troy will be the Grand Marshall in the 2018 Roaring Ranger Day Parade which will begin at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Ranger. The parade route will be reversed this year, beginning at the First Financial Bank and ending at Willow Park.
