Teresa & The Plan To Make Eastland County Great Again
I care deeply about my community. Over the years I have become more politically active in local, state, and federal politics. Through much soul searching, prayer, and with full support from my family; I have decided to throw my hat into the ring for Eastland County Judge. I did this for 3 main reasons:
1) Property tax relief. For far too long, the county has blamed other entities for ever-increasing property taxes. Ultimately, the buck stops with the entity that sets and approves the tax rate. Even though the appraisals go up, taxes don’t have to as well. Contrary to popular belief, taxes can be reduced. We not only need reform at the county level, but also at the state level. I am committed to helping our state legislators pass strong property tax reform legislation; the very same that our current county judge went to Austin to lobby against with the tax-funded lobby group, Texas Association of Counties.
2) I believe that having a County Judge that makes a six-figure salary in a county with a median-income range from $32,000 to $35,000 a year is unconscionable and wrong. Therefore, when elected, I vow to cut the salary of the Eastland County Judge to $75,000 a year – which is the difference of more than one salaried county employee. I believe that this adjusted salary is more than adequate for the task at hand. I think the people who actually do the work of our county deserve the money more than that of someone with an elected title.
3) Transparency & Accessibility. I believe that the world we live in today is far more transparent than years prior. Everywhere we go we have the whole world at our fingertips – except in regards to government dealings. If elected, my door will always be open and my ears attentive. It is crucial for the future of our Republic that the government we elect understands the needs of the community they represent.
