Strawn Lions Club Sponsors Eye Exams for Strawn ISD Students

Lions Eye test group

On Tuesday, September 19th, the Strawn Lions Club sponsored eye exams for Strawn ISD’s Pre-K through 12th grade students. The Graham Lion’s Club has purchased a vision testing machine in order to test area children. They partnered with the Strawn Lion’s and have tested students in both Strawn and Gordon (last week).

Lions are known as “knights of the blind,” focusing on programs and services for the blind and visually impaired – and aim to eliminate preventable and reversible blindness.

For nearly 100 years, Lions Clubs have worked to improve their communities through projects and programs. Each club is unique in how it serves. A Lions club in or near your community may sponsor a program that provides assistance for the purchase of eyeglasses, hearing aids, health-related services, scholarships or educational needs.

Jodie Barnes & Jim Senkel of the Graham Lions volunteer their time to administer the vision test around the region.

A BIG “THANK YOU” goes out to the Strawn Lion’s for being outstanding members of our communities and bringing this much needed assistance to our students.

If you are interested in joining the Lions, please contact Susan Hurley at 254-672-5211.
