Strawn Greyhound Football Season Ends

proud fansThe Greyhounds and the Bearkats came into Saturday’s championship with some similarities.  They both lost their first game of the season and then they each won their next 13 consecutive games.   Strawn’s 13 victories were won with the 45 point mercy rule, but Saturday they found themselves fighting to keep from being the recipient of that 45-point mercy rule, and they succeeded.  After 4 quarters of a hard fought battle, the Bearkats came out on top 122 – 88.

The 210 combined points made this game the highest scoring game in six-man state championship history and put it in 2nd place for highest scoring six-man game on record.  The record is 218 that was set this year when the Trent Gorillas had 100 points after three quarters, then scored 32 more in the final quarter to finish off a 132-86 victory over Novice for the Gorillas’ first victory of the season. The game ended due to the 45 point rule with 6:27 still left on the clock.

Congratulations to the Greyhounds for a very successful season!
