I am a graduate of Gordon High School and earned a B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Tarleton State University. I spent 20 years as a computer programmer and system architect with General Dynamics and American Express. In 2007, we returned to Gordon and I transitioned to owner-operator of a local business, with employees that include high school and college students.
My wife Sherrye is also a graduate of Gordon High and Tarleton. Our two grown sons have started their own families, and our daughter is a sophomore at Gordon. We enjoy spending time with our large extended families in the area, and being active outdoors.
Public schools have been the foundation of my family’s success and are the heart of a small community. I hope to lend my experience to address declining test scores and student attrition, by refocusing on core academics. My approach to problem solving is fiscally conservative and practical.
Technology has the potential for cost-effective enhancement of academic curriculum, but it is not always the answer. I am experienced in the evaluation of technology to solve problems, differentiating me from current Board members and other candidates.
Though I run on a platform of academic excellence, my mind is open regarding solutions and approach. There is great knowledge and potential with Gordon ISD students, educators and administrators, and with the citizens of our community.
Thank you again for allowing me to introduce myself and request your support on May 6 for Gordon ISD School Board. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
