Dear Friends and residents of Eastland County,
I am Martin Gohlke and I would be honored to represent you and Eastland county as the next county commissioner in Precinct 2.
My parents moved to Ranger in 1960 where my dad opened his medical practice of 42 years until his retirement in 2002. My sisters and I attended Ranger ISD school and I went on to graduate from Abilene Christian University in 1977 with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. It is there that I met and married my wife, Carla Willis.
She and I moved back to Ranger in 1984 when I had the opportunity to buy the lumber yard. I owned and managed Ranger Lumber and Hardware for 14 years while Carla coached and taught P.E. at RISD. We also raised our 3 sons while in Ranger. In 1997 we moved back to the Abilene area and I worked for Sysco Foods.
Due to the illness of my dad, Carla and I moved back to Ranger in the summer of 2012 to help with my fathers cattle business and to be closer to my parents. I began working for Eastland County Pct 2 in January of 2013. With the knowledge and hands on experience I have obtained over the past 5 years working on county roads and bridges, negotiating with FEMA, filing daily reports, developing maps, and devising coordinates and materials required in the field, I understand what it takes to keep our county precinct safe and functional. I feel that my experience in the field and in the office gives me insight and an advantage as taking over as commissioner.
I am also aware of the administrative responsibilities of being a county commissioner. I am willing and ready to work together with various county departments, our county judge, and fellow county commissioners during weekly court procedures to develop plans to make this county all it deserves to be.
Because I want to hear your concerns and suggestions, I will extend to you an open door policy and will be committed to and accessible to the citizens of this county.
Being a tenured, tax paying citizen, a county road resident, a conservative, and a christian, family man, I feel that the experience and determination I have for this job will be exactly what you want your vote to stand for. Leadership is all about service and I aim to serve our taxpaying citizens of Eastland county fervently and honestly.
Together, lets get this started on March 6th. See you at the polls.
Sincerely, Martin Gohlke
