Local Teens Involved in Siebert Burglary and Allsup’s Theft

Eastland Police Department press release:

On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Eastland Police Department received information from School Resource Officer (SRO) Kevin Willis regarding a juvenile reported as a runaway by Eastland County Sheriff’s Office.  Officer Jon Smicik and Lt. Dan Wilson were able to locate the runaway juvenile along with another male subject who initially falsely identified himself to officers. The male subject was later identified as Nathan Plum.  Eastland County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Nichols responded to the location and assumed custody of the runaway juvenile.

SRO Willis was also conducting an investigation into the burglary that occurred at Siebert Elementary School over the weekend where a number of iPads were stolen.  Willis advised Wilson and Simcik that he had reason to believe the runaway juvenile and Plum were involved in the burglary. Simcik and Wilson spoke with Plum regarding the missing iPads and Plum subsequently assisted officers in the recover of seven (7) of the iPads.

The investigation was continued and three additional juvenile males were identified as having been involved in the burglary.

The investigation by Simcik and Willis also connected all five (5) male subjects to a Criminal Mischief at the city park where signs and other property were damaged over the weekend.  Additionally the 5 male subjects were found to be responsible for a theft of beer from Allsup’s.

The 4 juvenile males involved were processed by Eastland PD and released to their parents.  Plum was arrested and transported to the Eastland County jail where he was booked in on multiple charges.
