Jeanene Puryear, age 76, left this home on earth to be with her Jesus and sing in the Heavenly Choir on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation of Cisco. Memorial service officiated by Reverend Pepper Puryear and Reverend Zack Tunnell will be Saturday at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in Cisco. The family will be at Kimbrough Funeral Home Friday evening from 5-7 to receive friends.
Jeanene was born in Anniston, Alabama, February 13, 1936, to O. O. and Ina Little Pope. She graduated from Tyler high School and attended University of North Texas where she met and married her husband of 57 years, Jim. Jeanene retired from Cisco Independent School District after serving 28 years as school secretary and reading aide. She truly loved her relationship with the faculty and students. Jeanene was a long-time member of the Baptist faith and was a great teacher of the Word of God. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Jeanene was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Eleanor Warren, of Ft. Worth.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Cisco, two sons: Pepper and wife, Debra, of Mt. Vernon, TX and Mike and wife, Sandra, of San Antonio, TX; brother, Robert Pope and wife, Hazel, of Carthage, TX; four grandchildren: Andrew and wife, Brittany, Austin and wife, Haley, Kathleen and Ross.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Cisco Elementary School Library, 1100 Avenue H, Cisco, TX 76437 or charity of choice.
