Join the Gordon Center on Saturday, December 10, at 6:30pm for a free holiday music program. Take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle as we welcome Texas native, Roy Thackerson, “the Fingerless Fiddler,” for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship.
A favorite of the Grand Ole Opry, Thackerson lost the fingers on his left hand and the sight of his left eye at age 6 to a dynamite cap explosion. Because of this childhood injuries, he uses what he calls a “gut strap” to hold up his fiddle. In addition to being a guest of the late Roy Acuff—the king of country music—on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, Thackerson has performed on the Ralph Emory Show as well as with the late Box Car Willie in Branson, Mo.
Performing with Roy Thackerson will be Billy Jones, Finis Butler, Billy D. Miller and Donna Thackerson.
