First Fruits Garden Ribbon Cutting Held

The Eastland Chamber of Commerce and a host of supporters attended the First Fruits Community Garden Ribbon cutting Saturday morning.

The Eastland First United Methodist Church of Eastland is using the land just north of their building for 4′ x 8′ above-ground plant ready boxes.  For a $25 deposit anyone can grow the vegetables of their choice in a prepared bed.  Extra produce will be donated to the Eastland County Food Pantry and Meals-on-Wheels.  Only three boxes were still available Saturday morning at ribbon cutting time.

Aaron Long from Hardwick’s Nursery & Produce gave hands on demonstrations and tips on planting the boxes.
