Saturday, December 2nd, the Eastland Chamber of Commerce held their annual One Starry Night event. Choirs and singers performed in Grime’s Garden while children stood in line to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Many took advantage of the free hot chocolate and cookies that were handed out.
This year a lighted parade was added to the schedule of events. A huge crowd lined the streets as the parade advanced east on Commerce Street beginning at Green Street and ending as they crossed Seaman Street. The courthouse square was beautifully lit, courtesy of the Eastland Lighting Foundation (E.L.F.) project. Parade entries were elaborate with mule-drawn wagons, the Grinch ready to slide down the hill to stop Christmas, and the Polar Express among the entries.
Santa rode at the back of the parade in one of the wagons until he was dropped off at the end of the parade in front of the courthouse. Santa and his Elves then proceeded to hand out gifts to all the kids who attended the event.
