UPDATED September 1, 2017: The Eastland Driver License Office must extend its closure until Tuesday, September 5th. The office will reopen Tuesday, September 5th at 8:30 a.m.

ABILENE – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Eastland Driver License Office will be closed Aug. 28-31 for repairs and maintenance to the public areas of the building. The office is expected to reopen to the public (at 8 a.m.) on Friday, Sept. 1. (The Eastland office is located at 1002 Lago Vista.).
If customers need to visit an office during the this time, they are encouraged to visit the Abilene Driver License Office (located at 4649 S. 1st); the Brownwood Driver License Office (located at 1516 Market Place Blvd. – closed Aug. 28); the Mineral Wells Driver License Office (located at 600 FM-1821 N.); or the Graham Driver License Office (located at 142 N. Elm. DPS encourages customers to check the DPS website for additional information about specific driver license offices, http://www.dps.texas.gov/administration/driver_licensing_control/rolodex/search.asp.
Many Texans are eligible to skip the trip to a driver license office altogether and instead take advantage of online services for driver license/ID card renewals, duplicates or address changes by visiting Texas.gov. Customers can also renew by phone at 1-866-357-3639. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal and online renewal are the same. The fee is the same for online, in-person and telephone renewals.
Important reminder: Customers may renew their Driver License/Texas ID card one year early prior to their expiration date, which allows them to choose a convenient time that fits their schedule.
