EASTLAND – They say ‘birds of a feather flock together’, and if you stop by the Eastland County Museum December 7-9 you will see how true that is. Falconers from around the country will gather in Eastland for their 2nd Annual Ryan Vance Memorial Falconry meet.
Organizer Mark Smith of Carbon says the event is drawing attention from more and more interested in the sport of hunting with the birds of prey.
Smith and members of the group will be registering anyone interested in going on the hunts each day at the Museum from 8 am to 5 pm. He also noted they are always looking for landowners who will allow the groups to hunt their land. All accommodating landowners will be treated to a Landowner Appreciation Dinner Friday evening at the Museum.
Saturday, following the morning hunt, an Educational Display will be held at the Museum at 3 p.m. Guests can get a close up look at the birds, their equipment and learn more about these great winged hunters.
