This is the Centennial Year of the Ranger Oil Boom

oilwellOctober 2017 is the Centennial Year of the Ranger Oil Boom “Noted The Boom That Won WWI”.

Although the “Discovery Well”  came in at Ranger, the “Ranger Field” covered the entire Eastland County, and then some.  Many things happened all over the county during this boom. Thus this is not just Ranger history, Eastland County history, or even State of Texas history~ Think About It ~ This Is Very Much A Part Of Our National History!

RHPS owns 38 Acres of the original McCleskey farm where the J. H. McCleskey Discovery Well came in, and on October 14, 2017 there’s going to be a BIG Parade on Loop 254 to kick off the Week’s Celebration that will be on this 38 Acres.  The entire county is going to be asked to be part of the activities, to portray how the boom affected their community.  Someone will be visiting your part of the county very soon.  You can help by letting us know your interest and contacting RHPS at P O  Box 320, Ranger, Texas  76470, or call 254-647-5353 or 254-647-3340

John Hill McCleskey was my great-grandfather. I will try to be there.

J.H. McCleskey was our maternal grandfather, Roy McCleskey’s uncle. We will try to be there, Lord willing.
